HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONICA

I wish I was able to come celebrate with you - although it would be a pop 'n chip party with you expecting and all....couple more years and we'll make our way down East again, ready to ride the bus! WOOT WOOT!

Introducing....Iceman....

Alexander decided today that he'd like to be called "Iceman" from now on....whatevs - if that makes him happy than who am I to judge?

We've also determined that for some reason my "devil horns" always seem to have this stupid growth on the side of them (my thumb). My defense is that it's from shooting Spiderman webs all day long with the boys and I unconsciously stick out my thumb

...although Alex has no prob doing it?!?

Some people have asked so here it is - my Ode to Kathryn

Good evening,
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Lesley and my role of distinction today is that of Matron of Honour.
Kathryn and Jeff, I am thrilled for both of you. Sometimes you just know that two people were made for each other. That’s how it is today.
Kathryn, in all the time I have known you, I’ve never seen you happier. We have known each other since Kindergarten. Kindergarten at Albert Park School versus when we attended Kindergarten in the 80s, although we were both sporting the Kindergarten bangs. Kathryn has always been a great friend to me in so many ways. We’ve had a lot of fun together, and she’s always been there for our family and as godmother to my oldest son Joseph. We’ve come to know one another so well, that we have an understanding that goes beyond words. We don’t judge, and we don’t have to explain. We’ve seen each other through the good, the bad, the ugly and the lice.
Kathryn and Jeff truly compliment one another. You met as friends and it evolved into a love that so many people rarely find today. Love after all, doesn’t make the world go around. Love is what makes the world worthwhile. And it’s a wonderful thing when two people who were made for each other manage to fall in love.
So I’d like to make a toast. And I’d like to make it with this thought in mind:
If there is such a thing as a good marriage, it is because it resembles friendship rather than love.
So this is to you, Jeff and Kathryn, ladies and gentlemen: To friends, lovers, soulmates and a wonderful life together.

Well, that was it folks. I didn't cry when I wrote it, didn't cry when I proofread it, was totally pumped to give my speech in front of a huge crowd - and what happens? I cried through the entire freaking thing. That's so not like me, guess it shows how much my little Katie-pie means to me and my fam.

Here kitty, kitty

WTF? Is that what y'all are thinking? Well I'm actually on the hunt for one of these: or one of these:
for Miss Kacie's birthday in a couple weeks. So far I've checked Wal-Mart, Toys R Us (online), Superstore and Canadian Tire. I can't even find just a pink CD player, or a Barbie CD player. It's the only thing she asked for -besides CDs to play on her new CD player- so how do you say no to that?
And there's more concert listings for the Beck's. Boys II Men are playing at Cowboys in a couple weeks so we're going to go see them. Although Aaron said he didn't even like them when they were airquotes "cool". That's called taking one for the team, I think!

More concerts

apparently Kelly Clarkson is coming to Cowtown this fall. WOOT WOOT! And like the good DH that he is, Aaron automatically put in the request for 4 tickets for me. It gets sooooooo much better - a friend of ours knows the guy that recorded her album. Uh, hello? Backstage passes & autographs, puhlease. Aaron said not to get my hopes up, but, you know me... I'm so freaking excited! Poor Aaron has been getting harassed for his concert choices lately - Gwen, Christina, Nelly... gotta love that he does it anyways.

We were aiming for a fairly low-key weekend but ended up with a partying weekend. Friday night was my Ladies Night and we hit the bars after Bunco til the wee hours of the morning. Turns out I'm hostess next month and I'm thinking that we're going to have another Get Lei'd party at the Beck household. Then Saturday it was Aaron's turn to let loose with his fellow UFC-ers. Although I bought the fixin's for Porn Star shooters and Electric Popsicles and totally indulged too - yummy! Today we finally bought our new patio furniture and I had the daunting task of putting it together while Aaron did the rest of the gardening and the kids ran around us both burning off some energy (6:30 bedtime tonight, yahoo).

Hope everyone had a relaxin' weekend!

More concerts in my future

Aaron picked up tickets for me and Andrea to go see Def Leppard and Styx in September. WOOT WOOT! I'll have to go buy their CDs now to refresh my memory...they haven't exactly been coming out with any #1's on the top forty list lately, know what I mean?
So, this being said, I realized last night that Gwen Stefani concert is only 2 1/2 weeks away. Can't wait!

I think the boys missed their playfort

The sod has finally rooted enough for the kids to run around the yard again, and we've rebuilt the back fence and gates so no one can run away. The garage building started 29 days ago, so in just over 4 weeks we've had the garage built, dog run built and re-landscaped. Now we just need to pick out new patio furniture and a new BBQ and we're ready for summer!

To go or not to go ... Commando....

Here is a link that will take you to the world of "going commando" or "navajo" as some members of my family refer to it...

Sigh...can't believe the long weekend is over...

We had a great weekend! It rained all weekend in Calgary - good thing we were in Morinville at Mom & Dad's!

Saturday was a bit dreary to start so we took the boys to see Shrek 3 - it was good and the boys were good, followed by a quick run into Old Navy. I heart my new tankini as much as Aaron's lovin his new camo cargos.

Sunday we headed to Chuck E Cheese and had lots of fun there.

I introduced my mom to Porn Stars which we turned into a drink over ice versus a shooter - lasts longer that way and apparently you get drunk a whole lot faster! Aaron and Dad got 2 games of golf in and I think my boys managed to squeeze in about 6 or 7 hours of hot tub time. It's a rough life, isn't it?

According to Alex, Mommy has a Jessica Simpson complex

Here's how my conversation with Alex went :

Alex (in a singsong voice): Mommy, I can see your niiiiiiiiippppppppples. Hee hee hee.
Me: What do you mean you can see my nipples? (I was wearing a t-shirt)
Alex: I can totally see them, they're right there (he points vaguely in my direction from the other side of the playroom)
Me: I don't think so babe, they're definitely not showing. (I folded my arms across my chest - that'll show him)
Alex: Well now all the kids can see your nipples! (He shouted this and seemed really upset now)
Me: Why don't you show me where you can see my nipples? (Totally frustrated but yet amused somewhat)

Then Alex runs over and starts pointing to my ELBOWS. Apparently he got a little mixed up...

It was actually Joseph's concert but here's a lot of Alex pics...

I don't want to post pics of Joseph's classmates without parental consent so until I crop them a bit I'll post ones of Alex. The concert consisted of lots of sing songs and some action songs, it was very cute! Aaron videotaped while I snapped pics and entertained Alex - hence all the pics of Alex...

A request for the honeymooners...

If you go to Seattle as part of your honeymoon...your fave MOH is running low on Bath & Body Works soaps. I'm not sure if you'll be checking your email or blog but I figured it's worth a shot.

HAPPY HONEYMOONING ...

Any input ??

An MP3 player
OR
An IPod ?

Well my MP3 player that was actually Aaron's until he upgraded has just about crapped out on me so I'm looking for a replacement. So, what's the difference between an MP3 player and an IPod? Is it just a name brand thing or is there different stuff an IPod has to offer?

Joseph and Alexander

You can't have enough pics of the boys, right? These were taken before I took them to Let's Play yesterday. Alex's hoodie says "I'm Allergic to Girls", isn't that the cutest?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! My mom rocks, she's one of my best friends and always will be...and she lets me take these silly pictures, what more can a girl ask for?
This is the before pic, not so hot! And this is the after pic, lovin' the grass! We were only grass-less for a couple days but I sure missed it!

We're one step closer to finishing our backyard. The sod is down, now we just need to put gravel into Lyla's dog run and rebuild the back fence and add a gate for Lyla. I'm so excited! Then we can put all the kids stuff back on the grass and I can buy a new patio set for the deck. We're looking at the faux-wicker stuff, loveseat, 2 chairs and coffee table. We hardly ever eat our dinner out there but do like to sit out for a few drinks with company and watch the kiddies run wild.
My fab boys gifted Mommy with a spa certificate! Yippee! My boys know me so well, any kind of pampering and I'm all over it! Breakfast in bed would have been nice but Aaron had to work today so cocktails and a nice bath will be a good substitute tonight.

Gawd, what a boring TGIF!

Aaron is out with his friends tonight and I'm at home with my kiddies - who've been asleep since 6:30 for Alex and 7:30 for Joseph...not too shabby!
But..
I'M BORED OUT OF MY MIND!!!
I've done all the laundry and all the housecleaning stuff so in theory I should just be relaxing but for some unknown reason I can't. Maybe it was too much fresh air. Silly me took 7 kids to the faraway park today, really what the heck was I thinking? The walk to was fab, the actual park time was fab, it was just the walking home part that was not so hot. But whatevs, we all survived.
Now I'm contemplating cleaning out my candle hurricanes in my beaudoir. I don't want to point the finger at anyone but 'someone' didn't listen to the candle rules of hours/inches and let the wax run over the holder and down into the rocks underneath...looks kind of pretty, actually.
And that's HOW BORING MY FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE !!!
Loohooser, that's me!

Joseph was taking pics again...

here we are together...awwwwww....
Mommy's toes...
At this point he was directing me "like Duke Nukem, Mommy"...
Then it was "get the bad guy over that way"...
We tried to all squish in together...not so successful...

What an okay day but glorious evening. I ran out to buy some new bottoms (2 shorts and 3 capris, yippee) and the lady in front with the gigantic order let me jump in line ahead of her. Then I thought I'd stop for my usual Grande Caramel Macchiato at Starbucks and they'd made me a Venti and when I tried to correct them they said it was on the house...does it get any better? Yep, it does - I stopped at the drugstore to pick up some stuff for Aaron and I was checking out the books and got to talking to a lady who just finished a fab book and she said she had it in her car outside if I was interested, hell yeah, and she didn't want any money for it either. Random acts of kindness make the world go around...

We may have to make the big switch...

our internet sucks lately so we're thinking that we may have to go to the competition. Our internet was down on Sunday afternoon, Monday afternoon, and again this evening. The last time I phoned to check if the internet was down in our area the techie said he was going to do a check and ended up killing the phone and cable too! If it weren't for the free long distance plan I think we would've switched a long time ago, but I'm sure you guys all know that I like to chat on the phone with my friends and family. I can't remember what life was like without computers...sad but true!

So tired yet I can't fall asleep

Have you ever had one of those nights when you're totally exhausted but just can't relax enough and let go of all those thoughts to just drift away?
That would be me, right now.

On a funnier note, I was doing some errands tonight and was in the convertible. Picture it: Lesley shopping at Safeway and trying to tuck in about 20 bags of groceries into the trunk. Loohooserrrrrrrrrrr! That would be me! I'm still laughing about it...

Now I must get some sleep...it's a big day ahead, plus 23 weather and me and a whole bunch of kiddies heading to the park...wish me luck!

Here's the wedding pics...

I swear we danced to every song that night, Aaron tipped the DJ so we got every request in too. It was awesome - although H and I were the only two dancing to Rasputin, you know, Ra ra rasputin lover of the russian queen.....
Being saucy...
Alex and the little Princess - note the lack of a kilt by this point
I'm giving my toast - see the Bacardi Breezer in hand...I was hoping it'd distract me enough to not cry, nope, didn't work...but Aaron said they could understand me fine. See? I wasn't a blubbering fool, just a teary eyed one.
That's my boy! WOOT WOOT!
Ahhh, aren't they cute together?
Note the hot MOH standing up there, hehe
Here I am crying my eyes out before the ceremony - we'd just arrived and I spotted my kilt wearing boys...ah, so precious!
Kathryn and Jeff with the honour guard
Joseph and Aaron

Aaron and the boys waiting for the ceremony to begin...gah, what angels!
Unka Jeff and Jonathan posing for the camera
The cake which has lots of stories to go with but I'll leave that up to Mom and Dad, it was simply delicious though!
High Five to the cool Auntie!
The signing...that's Feist F-E-I-S-T not F-I-E-S-T...and it's not pronounced "Feast"...poor Kathryn, I don't think anyone ever mis-pronounced Lang?!?

So, here's the deets:

Wedding was awesome, reception was awesome. Everyone stood where they were supposed to and said what they were supposed to. The cake arrived fine, the boys wore their kilts for a couple hours, Aaron was the belle of the ball (besides our little Princess of course) he was the only one in a kilt and the ladies kept trying to see if he was traditional or not. I know at one point one of the aunties had her hand on some flesh. Everything was super fantastic! Can't wait for the next big wedding to come but I'll leave those deets to someone else to chat about...and my dress was hot hot hot although the skirt was too big but I'm not complaining, after all swim suit season is just around the corner!

13 Failed Thursday Thirteen Lists
  1. Words to describe myself
  2. Crazy things I've done
  3. Funny one-liners
  4. Songs I could listen to over and over
  5. Things in my fridge
  6. Books I've read
  7. Things to do in Calgary

  9. Places I've been
  10. Happy thoughts
  11. Things you'd like to hear
  12. Desserts I love
  13. Things I love about spring

I've definitely had an off day which is totally unusual for a happy, upbeat person like myself. I have successfully made a list of 13 attempts at completing my Thursday Thirteen for this week. I've read more than 13 books but couldn't think of really quality ones I wanted to share and I'm sure I could think of lots of words to describe myself and maybe the crazy stories aren't exactly appropriate for the world wide web...you know today can't end soon enough!

Long awaited....

Drop it like it's hot girlfriend! Yup, we're on stage shaking it
And we met up with 3 other stagettes, one bride wasn't dressed up and was probably more embarrassed to be wearing normal clothes..it's like an unwritten rule or something...The bride in the lei totally looked like Avril Lavigne too.
Shopping in Banff...love the earmuffs!

Karen: smile Lesley, look like you're enjoying yourself

Lesley: what the hell am I doing at a country bar?C'mon Liz (mother of the bride) let's show them how to party...
And she totally kept up to me shot for shot. WOOT WOOT Liz is a party girl!
The bridal party, please ignore the bride straddling the bannister...What a great excuse to be able to wear our panties on the outside of our pants and feather boas... I tell you Monica and I should totally be professional stagette planners, although Hunter was unavailable for Kathryn's :-(
