Any input ??

An MP3 player
OR
An IPod ?

Well my MP3 player that was actually Aaron's until he upgraded has just about crapped out on me so I'm looking for a replacement. So, what's the difference between an MP3 player and an IPod? Is it just a name brand thing or is there different stuff an IPod has to offer?

Tracy: I love my MP3 player (my cell phone is an Ipod and it is okay). I have the MP3 player that also has the FM radio. I like talk radio in the morning on a local channel and my MP3 player is the only thing that works in the whole building. I really is a matter of preference. My MP3 player is very tiny. Fits easily in my pocket when at the gym! (sorry I posted anonymously, I didn't have time to log in).

VHS vs Beta
Cassette vs 8 track
45 vs LP
Pepsi vs Coke

You know I'd pick the non popular one! BTW - I have an MP3 and still have trouble working it!

I am an IPOD user, so I would recommend an ipod. What do you want to use it for? Just music? Then you can get a cheaper ipod. If you want videos, maybe the kids could watch it while driving around. Lots of accessories for the ipod. The other thing about using an ipod is that you need to use itunes, which is great to organize your music.

My partial opinion.

I'm an iPod user too. Jenn bought me the 30GB video iPod. I love it just as much as Jenn likes hers.

MP3 players have been around for a long time, and there are a lot of options out there that are well priced and easy to use. Apple just did their best to come out with an MP3 player that could compete with the others on the market at the time.

I strongly recommend against the Microsoft Zune. It has a nice screen and good quality sound but it's loaded with DRM (Digital Rights Management). I won't get into what that is. Ask me when I'm picking up Lucas one morning if your interested in a description.
I've heard good things about Sandisks (the Sansa line) MP3 players and Creatives (the Zen line). Though our friend had a bad experience with Creatives product support.

All in all I'm biased towards the iPod. I used to be a radio listener for both music and talk but since getting the iPod I don't listen to either anymore. I'm hooked on Podcasts now! It's like talk radio, but a lot of them are by just ordinary everyday people for ordinary everyday people, and you can find them for practically any topic you'd want to listen to. The big thing about the iPod for me is the fact that it's not just an MP3 player that can show photos and video, much like a number of other players out there, but it's the whole package! With the iPod you use iTunes which is the big feature that everyone overlooks when comparing the players in the stores. You compare size and audio quality. Can it play Video or can it get radio. On an on, but few people ask, how easy is it to get my music onto it? Or video? or podcasts? or Games? iTunes makes that really easy, all in one package.

In fact, download iTunes and organize youre music with it, you don't need an iPod to use the software. You'll then want the iPod to go with it I'm sure!

Phew, this is a long one, TTYL
