Today my boy turns 8

Where does the time go? It seems like not so long ago the doctors handed me my big baby for the first time. So many milestones, first words, first steps, first day of school, first broken arm...can't wait to see what's in store for JT this year!

Thursday Thirteen

Here's what's in store for me tomorrow:

1. Hot buttered rum - to finish off the day, if I survive
2. Dusting off the ole treadmill to get ready for the 1st.3. Help Mom make the plan for a friendly little competition:

4. Pick up some Friday $5 Thermal wear
5. Pizza for JT's birthday with Grandpa, Grandma and Uncle Jason
6. Lots of waiting in line. Canadian stores are trying to compete with Black Friday - I'll be reviewing my bargains next week and let you know what I think...

7. Looking for something to wear for Cookie Exchange so I don't have to resort to a homemade outfit:

8. Um. Yeah.

9. Did I mention my lack of t-shirts? Ricki's is 20% off this weekend and I love their t-shirts. I find my style and buy one in every colour and wear them everyday until they're worn out. Love them.

10. I need cookie bags and cookie boxes for homemade gifts. This place is on centre when you're enroute to Chinook Centre. It's on the left side right before 61st. I'd say this store is a hidden gem :o)

11. Did I mention that Canada is trying to complete with Black Friday? Ha ha. Soaps are 5 for $20 and Buy 3 get 3 FREE for the Signature Collection stuff. LOVE!

12. And of course the icing on the imaginary cake. A trip to the Apple store to pick out a new laptop. Excuse the drool....
13. Toys R US for JTs birthday present...can't believe he'll be 8 tomorrow!

New Moon Review

Sunday night at the LATE show Jenn and I saw New Moon, which is the sequel to Twilight. I thought Twilight was okay, it followed the book pretty closely but New Moon is just so much better. Maybe the actors used their millions of dollars they made from Twilight to pay for acting lessons? Yes/no? Twilight just seemed to have a lot of B acting so I didn't have too high of hopes for the sequel but was nicely surprised. The effects were pretty cool too, I mean, going from human to wolf onscreen seemed flawless. At the end of the movie, I still like New Moon over the other 3 books in the series, and I still think Bella should have chose Jacob over Edward.
Definitely two thumbs up for the movie!
:o)

I'm craving GUK!

Have you ever received the bag of guk from a friend? Did you throw it out or actually go through with it and mush the guk and make some bread?
I did and it was fabulous! I used Pumpkin Pie Spice and it was delish, I gave all the starters away because I was dieting at the time and now I'm wishing I hadn't.
One of the dayhome kids asked for my "Applesauce Bread" recipe last week and as I was about to write out the Pumpkin Loaf recipe I realized that I also called the Amish Friendship Bread by the same name. Why? Well...the boys aren't really interested in eating anything with Pumpkin in it but they do love their apples.
One of my friends makes Unicorn Soup. I just had to ask what the heck that was. It's chicken noodle with lots of extra veggies. She has 5 boys and they're not veggie lovers but love Unicorn Soup.
Whatever works!
Now I'm going to google Amish Friendship Bread starter....
NEW MOON TONIGHT! Mrs. Robinson will be there in her wolf t-shirt admiring Jacob. Gawd that makes me such a cougar...

It's a pajama party

Tonight one of my very best friends Lou Lou came over to watch My Sister's Keeper. And we cried. And we cried. And then we commented on how we felt about the mom. And then we cried more.

After the movie. I looked all puffy and had the lovely red swollen eyes while Lou Lou looked pretty much the same as when she came in.

Is there a course on how to cry and not look like you got hit by a truck?

Bottom line, it was a nice girls night. Drinks, jammies, snacks, movie and kleenex.

We both think it would have been better if they'd followed the book a bit closer...isn't that usually the way things go?

A fun filled Friday!

Obviously in no particular order because I can't plan ahead when I decide to post pics....

This is me, Jenn and Allie at the Calgary Zoo. It was great to be able to talk in person...we'll have to do that again sometime. And much more frequently if Allie ever decides to move back ;o) And then it was Kelly Clarkson's concert tonight with Cindy, Kathryn and Traci.

Cindy probably has much better pics than I do and she for sure has a great group pic!
