Paper or plastic?

Well, actually pretty soon I think plastic will be out of the question. I definitely re-use my plastic grocery bags with picking up after Lyla and those oh so fragrant dirty diapers...BUT the day is coming when these bags will be obsolete. SO, I'm trying to be pro-active and I'm going to switch sooner rather than later. BUT who knew who many freaking choices there are out there!?!?

There's the nylon Chico Bags, for $4.95 and they hold up to 25 lbs and fold into there own little pouch... The string bags which hold up to 40lbs and are $29.95 for a set of 5...
The good ole hemp tote for $7.95...
Or the plain string bag for $7.95...
That's what I've got it narrowed down to. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Every time I go to the grocery store I buy those $0.99 bags. Then I get home and put them away under the sink with the intention to take them next time and I ALWAYS forget them! So I buy new ones, which I then put under the sink with the intentions on bringing them .. and well I'm guessing you can already see the cycle .. my point if you need bags I have a few extra .. lol!

I have a nice selection of canvas totes that I use...more for market shopping, trips to the library etc. I recently came into a fabulous T*lus plastic tote that is the perfect size for my newspapers for recycling.

I usually buy my veg after I drop off the rest of my recycle and just take in my hard plastic tote crate. One 'intelligent' clerk turned it over and over looking for a place to scan it...I said it was mine for my groceries! DUH!

We get the daily paper and I just love the bag it comes in...just the right size to stick your hand in and go get those early morning Cody poops!

I'm a Superstore girl, so I really like their bins. Although there bags are good as well.

The other place to check is the dollar store. We use those string bags for the beach and found them at the dollar store.

Good Luck and good for you for going green.

We've got about 10 similar to hemp style bags. I'd venture to say that the net type bags will be more of a nuisance. Bananas or what not getting stuck. More of a fight between you getting your items out of the bag than anything else!
I like mine. They're simple and fold up nicely for the truck.

I got a few from W@lM@rt, they are 97 cents each, hold about 35 lbs ( if memory serves ) and have great little loops on the inside edges so if you buy celery or anything in a glass bottle, they slip nicley into the loops and stand up right so you can fit more into the bag. We leave a few in the trunk of the car so we have some handy for those spontanious trips to the store.

Like a previous poster, I have many of the .99 cent ones from various stores like Safeway, Ikea, Walmart, Superstore and Sobeys. However, I ALWAYS forget them, end up getting plastic but ALWAYS seem to remember to recycle most of them. The ones that I don't take care of the cat's poop and Masyn's poop. :)

So, on another note, are you building a snowman today with the kids???? I am very glad not to be living in Calgary today.

I got mine from the grocery store, for 99cents. After I'm done shopping I put them back in the van trunks so I don't forget. Also If they break for what ever reason the they replace them Free.

I like something with some structure to it, so you can arrange your items in the bag, instead of just cramming everything in. (I use the local grocery store bags, which look sorta like the hemp bag pic.) That is why I don't like those net bags. Put some milk, bread and butter in one of those and the bread comes out lookin flat as a pancake.
