A facelift for a well-used playroom

I picked up my new wall art last night and put it up first thing this morning. The green doesn't show up that great BUT I am LOVIN IT anyways.

I've only done around the sides and top of the main window of one wall. I think I might buy one more set to complete the wall. I'm definitely not doing the other 3 walls, it would be too much.

How long do you think it will take before one of the kids starts peeling off my polka dots, lol?

We're off to the Hat for Papa's funeral service tomorrow. There will be lots of tears but I'm hoping they will be happy ones. I can't wait to see the video, Nannie and Papa will be smiling down on us I can guarantee :o)

I HATE SHOE SHOPPING!!!

There, I said it.

I freaking hate shopping for shoes. I think I get that from my mother but for some unknown reason I insist on torturing her every chance I get with the brilliant idea to go look at shoes.

Why do I hate shoe shopping? Well, my feet I like to refer to as Fred Flintstone Feet. A lot. And tonight to add a cherry on top of it all I discovered that not only are my feet WIDE but they've GROWN to a size NINE! How, When and Why Me? So after going to 3 stores closeby, I hit the mall and went to about 6 more stores, than drove way down south to go to 3 more stores. And in the last store I found these:
Well, not exactly. They're brown and they're Skechers with cross elastic straps but they're also....bedazzled on the sides.
If I weren't feeling too lazy from all my shoe shopping I would have taken a real picture for you. Maybe tomorrow.
And the hair you're wondering. Well, Day 1 of doing it myself was okay. It was salon-quality but it was alright.

Rockin the short hair once again

Here's a before shot from January-ish.And the after shot. Without the flash, oopsy. And with the flash. Ta da
I'm liking it so far, we'll see what it actually looks like after being washed in the morning and then I'll know if I really like it or not.
It was a great evening for me, my new-to-me stylist Nikki is dating our hot babysitter Nadine's brother - totally a small world isn't it. We hit it off great and had lots to chat about so I think I'm going to have to stick with Nikki :o)

What was going on 10 years ago...

One of my friends commented this morning something about wishing it was 10 years earlier which got me to thinking about what I was doing 10 years ago...
I was definitely driving an Oldsmobile. This car made many road trips from here to Medicine Hat to visit my Nannie and Papa. And it ran on propane so trunk space was extremely limited.

And I was making our wedding plans. Here's me at my bridal shower hosted by Aaron's mom. It was a surprise party but seriously, I think the least Aaron could have done was make me put something nicer on and brush my hair.

And then there was the wedding. It'll be 10 years in August - but 10 years ago from today I would have been in the midst of wedding planning. We thought we were pretty hot stuff back then but now we laugh at my tan lines and Aaron's porn-star mustache, LOL!

Thanks to my friend for the trip down memory lane.

What were you doing 10 years ago?

And here's how it all went down

It was a FAB evening, lots of people, lots of auction bidding and lots of cocktails :o)
Ray should have won a prize for "best dressed" BUT we didn't have anything set aside for that. And without further adieu here he is:He was wearing Superman Speedos under his towel ;o)

So Ray didn't win a prize BUT his lovely wife Nicola was drawn for the $50 Cineplex doorprize. It just goes to show that karma really does exist...

Here's Ray and Aaron breakin it down to U Can't Touch This. We should have been video taping!

Hey! Are those man-pris that Ray's wearing? I just noticed it (note to self - must tease him on Tuesday :oP ) Just hanging in the pool
Hey look! It's some inter-blogging socialization! You can see my Mmmmaaahvelous friend over at RWB & Me . If I was really on the ball I would have captured Jenn in her shorts as well...Some of the silent auction booty. We had 4 long tables filled with goodies :o)Here's the icing on the cake:Auntie Leanne singing I Love Rock n Roll into a hairbrush while wearing swim goggles. Does it get any better than this?

Why yes it does. Here are a couple of Beach Babes ;o)

Kudos to Andrea for having such a straight face...I did something goofy about 5 seconds before this picture was taken. Obviously I have no poker face.

Yeah it's Friday!

We are ready for the party tomorrow night!

Here's proof:
Any guesses who this is?

No? How about if I use the flash?
Yep, it's JT. The kids were playing Hide and Go Seek (which is also known as Hide and Go Sneak in this house) yesterday afternoon and they couldn't find JT. He was in the closet behind Aaron's long coat and his feet were on the shelf so they couldn't see anything on the floor. He was so proud of himself. I just kept thinking pee-eww...all those shoes and boots don't smell so fresh.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Quick photo update

We've been overwhelmed with stuff lately so I've been neglecting the family blog. Sorry but I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and I know we'll be back to normal in about a week's time. So, thanks for bearing with us.
In the meantime here's a few quick pics:

It was 100th day of Kindergarten today so they celebrated with a float parade. Alex's float had 100 gumballs - there was a slight incident upon arrival this morning and a few gumballs were inside the box - but there was 100!

This afternoon the kiddies played dressup with our costumes and here's JT as the Hulk. Ooooh scarryyyy....

And is it just me or does Aaron look really young in this pic? I'm not sure if it's because his hairs not 'done' or because it's black and white but he looks wayyyy younger than just about 34. Just call me Mrs. Robinson :oP
